On behalf of McMath Interact, we would like to invite you to attend our Interact Awards Gala. As Interact Club at McMath Secondary School, we are a non-profit organization of youth who strive to make a difference in both the community and abroad. As a junior version of the distinguished humanitarian organization, Rotary International, we organize a variety of local and global service projects, as well as local volunteer trips. This past year we had ten different projects such as a school sleepover to fundraise for the Covenant House for homeless youth, selling pancakes to empower young women, distributing care packages in Downtown Eastside, running book drives, fundraising for disaster relief kits, and hosting a community 5K walk to fundraise for the third-world polio eradication initiative.
Our Interact Awards Gala will be taking place on May 23, 2018, at the Hilton Hotel. As our last project, the purpose of the Interact Awards Gala is to honor and recognize Interactors who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment throughout this past school year, as well as to inspire future Interactors to take action and participate further. This Awards Gala also serves to strengthen bonds between the Rotary Community; as Interact Clubs, Rotaract Clubs and Rotary Clubs all across Richmond are given the chance to join us in sharing and reflecting on our accomplishments for this past year. Finally, the Awards Gala will bring the year to a close, with both a sense of unity and cooperation.
Our Interact Awards Gala will be taking place on May 23, 2018, at the Hilton Hotel. As our first-ever Awards Gala, we are celebrating our 10th anniversary! Join us for an inspiring and fun evening with delicious food, dancing, amazing raffle draw prizes, and performance. Our event is also a fundraiser for Rotary’s ‘Hipporollers’; an initiative that supports impoverished communities through easier transportation of water.
We would be delighted to either come by and drop off some flyers and information regarding our event or, we would love the opportunity to perhaps come by to one of your club meetings and present our event to fellow rotary members.
Please let us know if it would be possible to do a small presentation and promotion of our event, if not, we will send some information and hopefully, the message can be passed on to the club members.
Parking Note: There will be fewer surface parking spots so any NON over height vehicles should try to park underground. Reminder that parking is free until 8:30am.

The Good Host program is how YOU can get involved - you are invited to help out by meeting, greeting and sharing cultural experiences with our Youth Exchange student. Victor Xavier (Brazil) is here and deserve to see and experience Canada to the fullest.
Any one of us can be Good Hosts by simply sharing some time with Victor. A phone call, lunch, dinner with family, sporting event, cultural outing, almost anything goes. However - all who host our youth exchange student unsupervised - even for a day event - must have submitted the YE police check paperwork to Paige Freeman prior to hosting.

Greeters are the first point of contact for guests, potential new members, and our members. Making all who attend our meeting feel welcome is the responsibility of all of us as we all take turns being greeters.
1. All greeters should arrive no later than 6:40 am and be prepared to assist in setting up and preparing for the meeting. If a greeter cannot be present for their day of duties, please contact another member to fill in for you.
2. Greeter #1 will ensure that the sandwich board at the entrance
3. Greeter #2 will ensure that flags and banners are in place.
4. Greeters should welcome all members and guests and make them comfortable with the proceedings and surroundings, i.e., seating, coffee, schedule of meeting etc.
5. Greeter #1 greets and sits with the speaker to gather information useful in providing a respectful and meaningful introduction of the speaker and the program.
6. Greeter #2 thanks the speaker and presents the certificate of appreciation for their presentation.
NOTE: The certificate is NOT a contribution of $20.00 in the speakers’ name. We donate $20.00 to the Rotary Foundation in recognition of their presentation at the meeting.
7. Greeter #3 assists in taking down the flags, banners and places the sandwich board back in Kathy's office.
